This wine is 100% Merlot made entirely from Estate
Grown grapes. The El Pomar District has developed a
reputation for what is quite possibly the best Merlot in
California. A full bodied, complex wine it has blackberry
flavors that are seldom seen in commercially produced
Merlot wines.

The 2005 crop was a large one, but not at our vineyard.
And we picked as usual in very late October, the
Templeton Gap cools our days down so that we need more
of them to complete ripening than much of Paso Robles,
where Merlot is picked a month earlier.

Complex blackberry flavor components with good tannin
structure are prevalent discriptors of this wine.
